“Analogue meets Digital”

Dear FREIRAUM Community,

the peer-to-peer April Salon is once again dedicated to our network: three people from the FREIRAUM community will present themselves and their artistic work.
We look forward to a short input and subsequent conversation with Céline Bellut, Henning Arend and Daniel Smith.

Céline Bellut and Henning Arend are showing current works in the recently opened Digital Agora – our newly launched platform for virtual exchange and collaboration, the “digital sibling” of FREIRAUM: https://freiraumdigital.com/about-community-digital/digital-agora/.
Daniel Smith is currently working in the analogue FREIRAUM space on Engelbertstraße.

All three artists will be present live on site on 5 April and we invite you to exchange ideas!

Choreographer Céline Bellut will give insights into her movement research “Physical disobedience” (2022) with dancers Jordan Gigout and Ying Yun Chen and dramaturges Peter Haas and Alexander Ernst. They develop an improvisation technique and explore disobedience in a physical and conceptual way. This research is the starting point of their performance “Suddenly, a sloth crosses the street”, which will premiere at Tanzhaus NRW on 27.05.23.

“Sorry you feel that way” is the title of Daniel Smith’s current dance piece, which tells of themes such as social pressure, fear, security and the chaos of the inner world. The work is inspired by his own experiences as a queer and neurodiverse person and is created in collaboration with Valentina Restrepo, Ying Yun Chen, Arthur Stashak (dance) and Yoav Bosidan (music).

Henning Arend is with us as part of the impersonal figure “exc”: an artists’ association of artists dedicated to trying to work with multiple brains in a non-hierarchical way on one idea and to develop projects from that point of view in various humanities and artistic fields.
