Invisible U – The Invisibility of the Uterus

The uterus, despite its media reach, is fraught with shame and ignorance in this days. Disease patterns such as endometriosis and fibroids are widespread among people with uteruses and remain a taboo subject. How do we deal with menstrual pain in these social structures and why are clinical pictures concerning the uterus recognized too late or not seen at all? Is the topic “uterus” overlooked in gynecology or medicine in general and which pain is taken seriously – “medical gaslighting”? The consequences for those affected are enormous, which Fatima Remli knows only too well. She has dedicated herself to this topic (also lyrically) and opens a discourse for it.

Fatima Remli works as a freelance writer, moderator and podcaster. She is active in the field of refugees, feminism and the visibility of the Maghreb Diaspora and is politically active in the city of Cologne. Fatima publishes texts that she calls political poetry.
