FREIRAUM Salon #10
Global Gathering Bangalore // Tbilisi // Osaka
1 jun 2022
6 to 9 pm

Conceived as a place for the independent art and culture scene in Düsseldorf and the surrounding area, we at FREIRAUM also want to open up to global artistic positions. Together with the Goethe-Institut Bangalore and the WELTKUNSTZIMMER in Düsseldorf, we have now launched the second bangaloREsidency-Expanded Artists Residency. This residency is embedded in the WELTKUNSTZIMMER residency, which also includes collaborations with different partners from Georgia, Armenia and Japan. In cooperation with the Goethe-Institut Bangalore, Ben J. Riepe is a jury member for the performance section, FREIRAUM acts as network partner of the residency.

Resident artists in the salon

In this salon, this year’s Goethe resident Deepanwita Roy will introduce herself together with WELTKUNSTZIMMER residents Tata Potskhverashvili and Yoshinori Henguchi. Deepanwita is a performer, choreographer and video artist from Bangalore. Tata is a visual artist from Tbilisi and Henguchi is a photographic video artist and writer from Osaka. He will present their project “Moon over Konohana” together with photo artist Katja Stuke.
In the Global Gathering Salons we would like to give the FREIRAUM community the opportunity to network with the contemporary scene from Bangalore, Tbilisi and Osaka and to stimulate an inspiring exchange – for joint local and global alliances within the artistic community.
At the same time, with this invitation we would like to give the residents the opportunity to get to know artists, institutions and networks from the region and to immerse themselves in the local artistic scene. At a cozy dinner with freshly cooked, vegan food and drinks in the backyard we would like to end the evening together with you.
