The monthly FREIRAUM Salons serve the open exchange and interdisciplinary networking of the local and national scene. Experts from a wide range of genres meet in an informal setting at the Düsseldorf premises. If analog contacts are difficult due to the pandemic, the salons are offered digitally. The content of the Salons changes between specific topics or questions or rather open get-togethers networking formats. The current artistic research and activities of the company, but also of the FREIRAUM community, can be reflected in the content of the salons. A new space of discourse opens up between peer reviews, small presentations, networking events of the scene or invited expert talks.

FREIRAUM Salon #37
“Flow free, stay connected” – Improvisation/Workshop with Ben J. Riepe
Wednesday, 19 mar
6 pm, FREIRAUM

During his tour in Colombia last autumn, Ben J. Riepe developed a new improvisation technique in collaboration with local dancers and performers through a series of workshops. Under the working title “Connected Flow,” this technique combines a sense of individual physical autonomy with an awareness of connection within a group. Whether in large group settings or one-on-one encounters, participants respond to each other’s impulses, creating a dynamic interplay of movement.

As part of FREIRAUM Salon #37, Ben will lead a workshop open to all—young and old, professionals from all artistic disciplines, and dance enthusiasts alike—inviting participants to explore this improvisation technique together. The workshop will conclude with a dance session based on the newly developed movement vocabulary.

The number of participants for the FREIRAUM Salon is limited. Please register informally by Monday, 17 mar, at: freiraum@benjriepe.com.

In the event that you can’t make it, we would be grateful if you’d cancel in good time so that we can calculate the costs and working hours for preparing the dinner and the amount of food required.
